SING ME HOME
An Advent Evening of Song, Storytelling and Prayer
Part of our common humanity is the longing for deep connection, for a profound sense of meaning and belonging. The seasons of Advent and Christmas, in particular, draw us both nostalgically and spiritually toward images of home. There is a power in story, prayer and music — especially in the emotionally charged season of waiting — that can transform and bring wholeness, that can carry us home. It is out of this conviction and this hope that Tony Alonso and Jeanne Cotter Sing Me Home tour came to birth.
Sing Me Home has special significance to Jeanne and Tony. They both grew up in the same small town in Southern Minnesota, went through the quaint Catholic school, broke bread together, and made music at the same parish. Jeanne’s youngest brother was Tony’s grade school best friend (and friendly rival on the high school homecoming court!). Just a few months before young Tony’s boy-soprano voice changed, Jeanne brought him into the studio to record for the first time on her We Are God’s People CD. Tony and Jeanne share the bond of home, history and hilarity. Now they come together as two seasoned composers, ministers and performers to celebrate their common connection of home, singing the promises of our God, who makes a home within each human heart. Treat yourself, your family, and friends to one of these special evenings in the month of December at parishes throughout the United States. For more information, contact GIA Publications.
